The In-Home Behavioral Specialist (IHBS) provides numerous essential support services to clients and their caregiver/families. At The Village Family Services an In-Home Behavioral Specialist (IHBS) may be known as a Rehabilitation Specialist, Rehab Specialist, Child & Family Specialist, In-Home Support Counselor, Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist.

The IHBS, using a team based approach, is responsible for providing direct rehabilitative mental health services to clients with severe emotional and/or mental health challenges. Utilizing the Core Practice Model (CPM) principles, the IHBS will support clients primarily in the home with intensive, individualized, strength-based, and needs driven intervention activities that support the engagement and participation of the client and significant support persons. The IHBS is an integral part of the support team, assisting the client to develop skills and self-sufficiency to achieve the goals and objectives of the care plan. Clients may be in the custody of the Child Welfare Department, Probation, removed from families of origin, in the process of adoption, or in transition to independent living programs.
