POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a Bilingual Youth Travel Escort, you will make it your mission to provide humble care and service to unaccompanied children, while you are accompanying them on domestic flights and via ground transportation from designated locations to meet with the child and the child's sponsor). During these trips, the Youth Travel Escort use their language skills to communicate in a way that is culturally sensitive, while fostering a safe and comfortable environment.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Bilingual Spanish and English fluently
  • Ability to travel frequently and must be flexible to work holidays, weekends, and multiple shift options
  • Prior experience driving a passenger vehicle
  • Valid driver's License

All direct staff must have proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route.

  • Varicella 2 doses (at least 4 weeks apart)
  • MMR 2 doses (at least 4 weeks apart)
  • T-Dap complete primary vaccination series completed at childhood, 1 T-Dap dose in adulthood
  • Influenza, 1 dose annually during flu season

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

All of the responsibilities listed below are considered essential functions of this position. Additionally, this position is expected to ensure that the core operating values and the strategic direction of the agency are adhered to.

  1. Coordinate travel arrangements to and from various predetermined locations.
  2. Coordinate escort services with other ORR staff members and the child's sponsor.
  3. Travel to various locations in order to escort children.
  4. Drive a vehicle or passenger van in order to transport children safely from one location to another.
  5. Participate in the routine cleaning and servicing of the passenger van as requested.
  6. Review and arrange all transportation paperwork inclusive of driver logs, flight information, trip reports and invoices.
  7. Record mileage that is essential for fuel tax entries and quarterly reporting
  8. Document all travel, and services provided in a consistent and timely manner.
  9. Practice safe and defensive driving practice and obey all of the required student transportation laws, codes and regulations.
  10. Maintain order and discipline among passengers while traveling and waiting at stops in accordance with the program policies related to monitoring and disciplining unaccompanied children.
  11. Conduct safety inspection of vehicles to include inspecting the interior, exterior, brakes, headlamps, and taillights.
  12. Report mechanical malfunctions or other concerns as they are identified.
  13. Determine appropriate action in potential or real medical emergency situations according to established guidelines.
  14. Administer first aid as needed.
  15. Conduct routine emergency vehicle evacuation drills as assigned
  16. Attend safety meetings and programs as assigned 
  17. Perform related duties as assigned.

Physical Activity

  • Must be able to drive a vehicle and passenger van for extended periods of time and in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to travel to a variety of different locations.
  • Must be able to travel by airplane including long and frequent flights including intra and interstate travel.
  • Must perform a wide range of physical movements such as lift, carry, push, pull, bend, sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, and crawl
  • Must be able to receive variable requests by email and/or telephone at various times during the week in order to provide child escort and travel services and respond in a timely and expeditious manner.

Pay: $23.00/hr, non-exempt

Schedule: On call, Per Diem
